We’re half-way through one of the hottest summers in Ontario’s history! We have so many new families who have become Great Blue residents in the last few months, we thought we would give a refresher on all the wonderful things happening around your new #homeawayfromhome! Ontario’s cottage country offers so much to do, it would be a shame not to head out and experience it all!
In this blog entry, we highlight the Top 3 family-friendly activities to do around all of our resorts in Ontario’s prime cottage country like Muskoka, Perth, Prince Edward County, the Kawarthas and Niagara-on-the-Lake. Let’s start with our most southern cottage resort in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Vine Ridge Resort.
Vine Ridge Resort is located in Niagara-on-the-Lake, a previous winner of the “Canada’s Prettiest Town” award and a very short drive to one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World; the magnificent Niagara Falls. We love heading up to Niagara Falls for a night on the town, especially Clifton Hill! It is conveniently located a block away from the Niagara Horseshoe Falls where the “Street of Fun” is always hustling and bustling with families, tourists, and couples.
Located near the top of Clifton Hill is Niagara Skywheel, a giant Ferris wheel that gives its riders the most magnificent view of the Falls and the surrounding area. There are many attractions, restaurants, museums, fun houses, comedy spots, and more at Clifton Hill, but here is a list of some of the fun things you can do on Clifton Hill as a family! Only 18 minutes from Vine Ridge Resort!
The largest mini-golf course in Canada is located at the top of Clifton Hill. Dinosaur Adventure Golf is comprised of 70,000 sq.ft. with two 18-hole courses, a 50-foot active volcano, three ponds and 50 realistic and life-sized dinosaurs! Transporting you back in time wouldn’t be complete without jungle sounds in the air.
For the most fantastic, breathtaking, and alluring view of the Niagara Falls, head to the Niagara Skywheel which will take you to a height of 175 feet for a bird’s eye view of massive cataracts. You can see American Falls, Horseshoe, Niagara River, and other landmarks in the vicinity.
